Sābisu - サービス
The Japanese word Sābisu is a noun with a number of similar and related meanings - “Service, Assistance, Care or Concern" “Giving away Something, Doing Something for Free.”
When we decided to set up our mentorship and consulting brand, we wanted a name that represented us. We looked at our skills and experiences, and thought about our principles. We thought about the thousands of connections we’d made over the years and the word Sābisu resonated with us. Ian’s work based at a Toyota facility in the UK had a profound impact on his life and career. His humble nature and giving spirit allows him to pass wisdom on to others in a way that feels freeing. The humility found in Japanese manufacturing is Sābisu. We are Sābisu. We’re here to serve, assist, give and support others in life and in business.

Starting your own business?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a full time business or build something to add additional income? Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more, or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you set yourself up for success can make all the difference. Ian has made more mistakes than most people have had hot dinners! He has a propensity to take consistent action, learning as he goes and fine tuning his next steps. He uses the word ‘experiment’ instead of action. Experiments allow him to learn more as he finds his way to his goals.
Dream it… Why not?
Do you have a big dream that won’t go away? A big idea you want to see come to life? Why not bring it to life, first on paper! Don’t worry about sounding professional, that will come later. Get your ideas out of your head and onto paper! Work on really visualising how your dream looks, smells and feels. Often we don’t spend enough energy on this valuable part of planning. Spending a bit of time creating your vision is time well spent!
PRO TIP: Do not worry about the detail - that’s for later!! For now, just express yourself and flow freely with ideas and creativity!
Lets go….
I’ve always believed we’re better taking action (experiments) and learn as we go, especially when we have a dream to build our first business. Energy is key here, you’ll need lots of it when you first start out.
There are skills we can all learn in goal setting to improve results. Knowing you need to take consistent action is so important when you first start out.
I can help you ‘keep the dream alive’ especially in the early days. Taking consistent action (experiments) is so important in the early days of starting a business.
